ANOTHER BJC HEALTH SYSTEM MEDICAL CENTER SELECTS SCIMAGE'S ENTERPRISE SOLUTION
Los Altos, CA November 26, 2003 - ScImage announced today that BJC HealthCare, as part of their continued integration and renovation project, has recently purchased and will be installing ScImage's Third Generation, Web-enabled PICOMEnterprise information and image management distribution solution. This installation brings the number of BJC facilities using PICOMEnterprise and other ScImage technologies to six. The latest institution to adopt ScImage's technology is Christian Hospital, Northeast (St. Louis, MO).
PICOMEnterprise will enable Christian Northeast Hospital to capture and store information, images, patient demographics, reports, waveforms or any other information regarding the patient's clinical data. Procedural studies are collected and stored in a patient-centric, electronic medical record called the Electronic Patient Folder that can be viewed securely from PICOMEnterprise, anywhere the care giver requires access, using a standard PC with minimum bandwidth requirements. As a part of this installation ScImage will be converting over 12,000 historical exams from the existing removable media based archive and moving them to ScImage's latest spinning disk SAN solution, "ForeverOnline".
The solution gives the facility more than image and information management. According to Keith Skaer, BJC Clinical Engineer, PACS Coordinator, "ScImage provided us with a cost effective migration path from our previous PACS vendor while giving us the ability to standardize our imaging and information management platform throughout many of our facilities. This standardization has helped BJC Healthcare realize a significant reduction in operating costs."
The installation serves a large integrated network that is used by more than 1,000 cardiologists, surgeons, residents and attending physicians. Physicians using the PICOMEnterprise system will be able to exchange imaging data with the other participating facilities in the BJC network using secure, hierarchical log-ins.
When asked to comment on this project, Sai Raya, Ph.D., CEO of ScImage responded, "BJC Healthcare is a valued partner. Our goal is to continue to assist BJC Healthcare expand their global vision for image and information management."
