SCIMAGE’S ENTERPRISE SOLUTION INTEGRATES SEAMLESSLY WITH ST. LUKE’S ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD SOFTWARE WebPINS

Los Altos, CA November 20, 2002 — ScImage, a leading provider of modality independent image and information management solutions including high end post-processing medical image analysis applications, based in Los Altos, California announced today that it has successfully completed the installation and integration of its PICOMEnterprise solution. The project gives the cardiac services department at St. Luke’s Hospital (Chesterfield, MO) a method for analysis of imaging studies and review of other patient procedures, reports and information generated inside the cardiac services department, as well as a way to archive that data. In addition, the installation gives authorized users access to the data stored on the PICOMEnterprise server using St. Luke’s WebPINS system.

According to St. Luke’s Chief Information Officer, Bill Meyer, “The goal at St. Luke's Hospital (Chesterfield, Mo.) is to get clinical information into caregivers' hands when and where they need it so they have the right tools to make the best decisions when treating patients. This extends to every caregiver needing patient information. ScImage was able to seamlessly interface their PICOMEnterprise server to our WebPINS clinical web portal, adding yet another source of information regarding the patient’s health condition.”

Cath Lab Manager, Barb Reed, RT, praises, ”Our Cardiothoracic surgeons and cathing physicians have been anticipating a cineless environment at St. Luke’s Hospital, and are pleased with ScImage’s solution. They are able to review studies in the operating rooms and their private offices and are looking forward to being able to review studies from home through St. Luke's WebPINS. This new ability has improved overall efficiencies.”

Andy Dietrich, RN, BSN, cardiology services manager agrees, ”Working with ScImage through this process has benefited St. Luke’s by allowing us to integrate ScImage’s understanding in technology with our day to day work flow. We have partnered with them to design a system we can build from as our long-term Cardiac Service Line initiatives continue to develop.”

When asked to comment on this project, Sai Raya, Ph.D., CEO of ScImage responds, “St. Luke’s is on the cutting edge in medical record management. They are providing one of the most robust data sets in health care today. I believe that St. Luke’s saw what we were doing within the Cardiology Enterprise as complementary to the WebPINS project and wanted to leverage our extensive background in cardiology imaging and information management. Our mission is to ‘Improve Healthcare through Innovation by developing diagnosis-enhancing software, multi-modality image and information integration, data warehousing solutions and providing location independent, and multi-directional information delivery pathways throughout the healthcare continuum.’ ScImage is helping St. Luke’s Hospital do just that by integrating our PICOMEnterprise solution to their WebPINS system. The end result is better patient care and that is what matters most.”
