SCIMAGE INKS DEAL TO PROVIDE A SINGLE ENTERPRISE SOLUTION FOR CARDIOLOGY AND RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENTS AT EL CAMINO HOSPITAL
Los Altos, CA September 13, 2002 - ScImage, a leading provider of image and information management and distribution solutions and medical imaging workstations based in Los Altos, California, received final approval today to install the PICOM solution at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. The deal also includes long-term storage of both cardiology and radiology images and information using ScImage's archive and telemedicine portal, PICOMOnline.
"We are truly pleased with the PICOM solution that ScImage has proposed for our Cardiology and Radiology Departments," said Mark Zielazinski, El Camino Hospital's Chief Information Officer. Mr. Zielazinski went on to say, "Our plan is to get both departments using the PICOM solution to seamlessly access multi-modality images and information both inside and outside the hospital, eliminating the need for separate telecardiology and teleradiology systems. As we move forward our intent is to capture images from all modalities along with patient charts and other information, with the ultimate goal being to provide the tools for collaborative medicine. We really like the fact that we only need to support one solution instead of one for cardiology and one for radiology. This makes administration much easier and it supports our goal of moving towards a filmless environment for the future."
PICOMEnterprise, the onsite component of the PICOM solution, will allow multiple departments at El Camino Hospital to store and distribute patient images, reports and procedure data using a common architecture called the Electronic Patient Folder™. The Electronic Patient Folder™ provides a single point of reference for a patient's images, information, demographics and procedure data, as well as, being able to collect data from a variety of non-imaging modalities. The hospital will also be using PICOMOnline, ScImage's offsite storage and telemedicine solution for archival and distribution of Electronic Patient Folders. PICOMOnline is a secure web portal that uses 128-bit SSL based proprietary secure token encryption in conjunction with hierarchical access protocols to provide multi-user access to a patient's protected health information by simply using a Microsoft Windows compatible PC and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
